We’ve got two good reads this morning for readers of Northwest Headlines. The first comes from Alaska, a crime ripped from the movie screens.
Mechele Linehan was convicted three years ago in the death of her fiance, Kent Leppink, in a case prosecutors said was inspired by the 1994 flick “The Last Seduction,” in which a femme fatale uses her lover to kill her husband for money.
The State of Alaska will take Mechele Linehan to trial again on murder charges, the Department of Law announced this morning.
Linehan was convicted in 2007 of conspiring to kill her one-time fiancé, Kent Leppink. The Alaska Court of Appeals overturned her conviction this month, saying the state’s case was circumstantial and “hardly overwhelming.”
