According to court documents, the man said he and Carroll engaged in consensual contact, when all of a sudden Carroll told him he’d have to pay her $2,000 for sex. The man said no, and Carroll left, court documents said.
Police said Carroll then went to the hotel’s lobby and asked for a cab, telling hotel workers the man had tried to take advantage of her. The man called police and said he thought he was a victim of extortion.
When Carroll arrived home, she called police. Hours later, when she had her blood alcohol tested at Overlake Hospital it was .14 percent, nearly two times the legal limit, police said. In addition, Carroll did not allow rape kit information to be released to police.
Detectives said Carroll told them it could affect her then-pending rape case against magician David Copperfield.
Carroll was later arrested, accused of prostitution in the incident with the businessman.
