Li Marie of K.A.R.M.A Musiq Group, “ The Rock the Bells tour is keeping Hip Hop alive .” Hip Hop enthusiasts came out in droves to see artists such as Big Boi, Busta Rhymes, Ice Cube, Slum Village and Raekwon of The Wutang Clan. Rapper Justo says,” It’s the Hip Hop Woodstock . It’s the pioneer of all the big rap shows around the world.” Many Bay area artists flocked to Rock The Bells for a chance to network with rappers and fans from over the world.
Tech N9NE and Dru Down and were both original members of the collective called The Regime that includes Yukmouth and Messy Marv amongst others. Rapper Dru Down whose song” Pimp of the year” is still being reffered to as a cult classic says they “ they did it in the bay but did they have any bay artists..once we know it’s something going on as big as that we’d love to be involved … anything Hip Hop we there.”
