Seattle Adult Entertainment: First Creek Neighbors among best in nation

First Creek members mobilized first against the gangs, prostitutes and drug dealers on Tacoma’s East Side along Portland Avenue. They forged partnerships with Tacoma and Puyallup Tribe police, and helped bust and shut down the bad guys’ enterprises. They branched out into painting over gang tagging.
They hooked in with Tacoma’s Safe & Clean initiative and worked with the city to haul ton after ton of dumped junk out of the old T Street Gulch. They organized clean-ups, and hauled away more unsightly tonnage.
With the tribe, they renamed the old gulch First Creek and set about uprooting ivy, blackberry and broom that had overtaken native plants.
Last year, they took up the city’s offer of land for a community garden, and the guidance and money to design and build it. It’s Green Thumb Community Garden that earned their place as one of four finalists in NUSA’s “Physical Revitalization – Single Neighborhood” category.

Seattle Adult Entertainment: Missing Bill Wheeler’s "Sexpresso" Stands Torched

Posted on March 31st, 2011 in Seattle adult entertainment by seattlesleuth

No, really. His wife/widow, after all, thinks he’s still alive, although other members of the family suspect she had something to do with his disappearance and believe he’s dead. But under Carol’s scenario, he burned up his own truck and went into hiding. To extend that theory, perhaps he got mad enough, seeing his wife/widow take over his beloved business and rename it for herself, to work his way north and angrily torch the stand. The Everett Herald reports the fire was set just after midnight Monday at Carol’s Grab N’ Go espresso, in the 8000 block of Broadway.
The bikini barista stand was the target of a two-month undercover police investigation in 2009 after police received complaints that the baristas were selling more than java. Five baristas were charged with prostitution. The stand was repossessed in February because the former owner, Bill Wheeler, failed to fully pay for the structure. A new stand quickly took its place…Wheeler disappeared in May 2010 during a trip to Las Vegas. His burned-out Toyota pickup truck was later found abandoned at a dump site in the California high desert.

Seattle Strip Clubs: U-District gentlemen’s club plans reopening after a court ruling forcing it to …

The Seattle City Attorney communications director, Kimberly Mills, said in an email that the injunction is in full effect and Jiggles could not reopen until it gets all the right permits for whatever services the owner wants to provide. Until such permits are obtained, the court has the power to prohibit Jiggles from functioning as a strip club. If Jiggles continues its previous adult-cabaret business, the city has several enforcement alternatives, including contempt of court, Mills said.

Court documents also state that the closure is necessary due to concerns about public health, safety and welfare interests embodied in the Seattle city ordinance, including protection from the adverse secondary effects of strip clubs. In general, such review for development project proposals within 120 days is not an unconstitutional prior restraint.
According to The Seattle Times, Davis currently has a lawsuit pending in the U.S. District Court challenging Seattle’s law regulating the locations that strip clubs are allowed to operate.

Seattle Strip Clubs: What you missed over break

Forensic experts in the appeals trial have found low traces of DNA on the knife allegedly used in Kercher’s murder but have said it is possibly too small to determine whether it is Knox’s DNA, according to The Seattle Times. The experts are also reviewing traces of DNA found on Kercher’s bra clasp.
The defense has maintained that the DNA traces presented at the first trial were inconclusive and requested the review of the DNA evidence for the appeals trial. The Seattle Times reported that though experts say the DNA levels on the knife remain too low to be tested, the prosecution may ask for a retest anyway.
