Seattle Strip Clubs: Some naked truth about Vashon

Posted on February 27th, 2011 in Seattle strip clubs by stripclubbouncer

When I heard that somebody on Vashon Island had a collection of photos of naked guys on display in a makeshift showroom and that some of Seattle’s television studios had plans to do an expose’ (so to speak) on an evening program I took notice.
I asked a  friend and property owner on the island to fill me in. ” Yes,” he said. “That is true.” He and his wife own a building that had an unoccupied hall. They have been letting some artists show their wares without charge. He was unaware they showed some photos of some men without underwear.    “When my wife  heard about it she took off (so to speak) and demanded to know the naked truth.”
”She insisted they remove what she considered off the wall and had the stripper pictures stripped.”

Seattle Adult Entertainment: Seattle Shakes takes an artistic gamble with Threepenny Opera

Seattle Shakes takes an artistic gamble with Threepenny Opera February 25th, 2011 1:12 pm PT
Seattle Shakepeare Company’s artistic director Stephanie Shine continues a highly successful 20th anniversary season with a new production of a tricky musical, The Threepenny Opera.
This Grand Guignol of a script, based on the 18th century Beggar’s Opera, serves as an emotional granddaddy to such entertainments as Sweeney Todd. Unabashedly savage in its critique of society’s woes, its cutthroat crew of characters cheerfully inform the audience that anyone could turn to begging, murder, theft, or prostitution if faced with an empty belly.
Catching up with Shine after opening night, she discussed why Seattle Shakespeare decided to produce its first musical, an artistic gamble that increased the company’s normal production costs by approximately 25% but has already payed off in increased ticket sales. As per one Seattle Shakespeare employee, the company made its ticket goals for The Threepenny Opera before the show opened last week.

Seattle’s Big Blog Covering Seattle news, weather, arts and conversation, along with a grab bag of stuff that’s just plain interesting
Contrary to what your eighth grade history text book may have implied, the past is full of contradictions, misinformation — and loose women. So, when MOHAI’s Phyllis Franklin set out to write about Lou Graham, Seattle’s most notorious madam, she found a veil of inconsistencies.
The brick building at 221 South Washington Street that was once home to Lou Graham’s brothel. The building, completed in 1900, is now home to part of the Union Gospel Mission. This picture was taken in 2004. (King County Department of Assessments photo)
It’s widely accepted that Lou Graham came to Seattle in 1888 to operate a sophisticated “Establishment” at 3rd and Washington, in Pioneer Square. There, gentlemen could bring their business associates to dine and enjoy fine spirits in the company of some of Seattle’s most beautiful and cultured women. But getting to the real story behind Lou’s life isn’t always easy. Rather, her life is revealed in a series of lively vignettes that provide a juicy, but not always factual, image of this enterprising woman’s personality, life, and times.

Seattle Adult Entertainment: Do you have to be Asian to own a business in the ID? Nope!

Sancken said that race does not play a role in how customers enjoyed their food at Samurai Noodle.
“To some degree, I’m sure the public has a bias about non-Asians cooking Asian food,” said Sancken. “But the basics of food operation are really ‘ethnic-free.’ For good customer experience and service, people can be trained.”
Other local restaurants also respect the business and cooking behind Samurai Noodle. The restaurant shares a strong relationship with nearby businesses, particularly with the team at Uwajimaya.
Larson also works closely with the community. He routinely attends and participates in meetings regarding parking, citizen safety, and other concerns within the International District.
“There’s a lot of drugs and prostitution on our streets at night. If people don’t feel safe, what’s the point of developing business [in the International District]?” said Larson.

In order to stay, victims must also prove that they would suffer extreme hardship involving unusual and severe harm if they were removed from the United States. Going home after the harrowing experience is not an option for victims lacking adequate protection and resources in their home country. The process, from victim recovery to acquiring permanent residency, can take years.
“Many of them wish they can go back, but [their perception of] what’s waiting for them there has been so damaged by their experience that it changes their thinking. We try to help them think through [their options]. ‘If you go back, is it safe, and what options do you have?’” said Bincy Jacob, executive director of APIWFSC.
While participating in a law enforcement investigation, Nom had to revisit traumatic memories from the two years she was forced to work as a masseuse and prostitute by her trafficker, a well-known and trusted figure from her home country.

Seattle Adult Entertainment: Seattle couple killed by pirates, US says

Posted on February 24th, 2011 in Seattle adult entertainment by seattlesleuth

… It’s a black day for us and also the Americans, but they lost bigger than us,” a pirate who said his name was Bile Hussein said Tuesday. “If they still want a solution and safety for their citizens in the oceans, let them release our men they arrested.”
Increasingly brutal shift
The killing of the four Americans appears to underscore an increasingly brutal and aggressive shift pirates have been showing toward hostages. The conventional wisdom in the shipping industry had been that Somali pirates are businessmen looking for a ransom payday, not insurgents looking to terrorize people.
Pirates – who currently hold 30 ships and more than 660 hostages – typically win a multimillion ransom for releasing their captives, a huge sum that is shared among investors and pirates. The money is often spent on alcohol, drugs and prostitutes. One ransom paid last year was reported as $9.5 million. Most ransoms are worth several million dollars.

Seattle Strip Clubs: Seattle, Portland, Hottest Cities of 1990s, See Growth Slow in Maturity

Posted on February 24th, 2011 in Seattle strip clubs by stripclubbouncer

The parody hits the mark, said Paul Maziar, who moved to Portland in 2009 from New York City, where he was working at a marketing firm. Maziar, 30, said he fell in love with Oregon during a four-month visit, and moved without a job. Now he’s a valet and bellhop at the luxury Governor Hotel in downtown Portland while he puts his energy into writing poetry and hosting monthly readings.
‘Hard Everywhere’
“The economy isn’t what it should be, but it’s been hard everywhere,” said Maziar, who savors the city’s bike-friendly culture. “I got a boost from Portland for my soul.”
Dylan Reiff, a disc jockey for dance parties, decided to move from Chicago after working on an event in Portland — and having an all-night bar-hopping political discussion.
“I knew there weren’t jobs,” said Reiff, 28. “It’s the people, the nature and the culture.”
Reiff has been in Portland since November. He worked for two months playing music at a strip club and left, he said, because dancers were stingy sharing their tips. He’s still looking for a full-time job while on contract as an emcee of video-game tournaments around the country.
