Seattle Strip Clubs: The Lusty Lady lures its last

Posted on April 30th, 2010 in Seattle strip clubs by stripclubbouncer

The Lusty Lady didn’t stick out much in the old days, when 1st Street was awash in drug dealing, strip clubs, adult bookstores and X-rated theaters — a place, as the Seattle Weekly described it, “where they think ambiance is something that takes you from the bar to the hospital.”
That’s all changed now. There’s plenty of vice to be had in nearby parts of downtown, but the main drag on 1st Street slicked down its hair and put on a tie. Multimillion-dollar high-rise condos with views of Elliott Bay loom next door to the Lusty now, and Pike Place Market just down the street is the city’s biggest tourist draw.

The club is distinguished by the fact that it has been mainly managed over the years, at least on the frontline level, by women. Its dancers work on an hourly rate, meaning the nasty competition for clients and tips that often prevails at other strip clubs doesn’t exist. Dancers start at $10 an hour; top earners make up to $17 an hour, considerably less than the $27 an hour they made during the good days.

Seattle Strip Clubs: ‘Drum Song’ tapers off after a strong start

Villanueva stars as the beautiful Wu Mei-Li, a new immigrant from China who struggles to fit into the Chinese-American society in San Francisco’s Chinatown. TMP audiences are familiar with Villanueva, whose clear voice stood out in “Footloose,” “Miss Saigon” and “South Pacific.” She is at her best in this production. Joining her on stage are her father, Robert Villanueva, as Uncle Chin in his very first show, and her sister Alexa (ensemble) in her first main-stage production at TMP (she starred as Eponine in the TMP Camp Youth production of “Les Misérables”). Robert Villanueva is outstanding both as an actor and a singer, and I hope to see more of him.
The other leading lady is Karina Choe as the vivacious stripper Linda Low. She has a powerful voice and is a great dancer. The “striptease” is highly stylized and done in good taste, but is rather bland. There is nothing licentious about it.

Seattle Strip Clubs: Honey’s: a welcome demise

Posted on April 30th, 2010 in Seattle strip clubs by stripclubbouncer

When bulldozers begin mowing down the seedy building that housed Honey’s, Snohomish County’s last remaining strip club, it’ll be the best entertainment that part of Highway 99 has seen in years — adult or otherwise.
The removal of this long-standing magnet for crime will create opportunity through subtraction. Whatever development takes its place will be a huge improvement, and could provide the commercial spark needed for Mukilteo to successfully annex the area and improve the city’s revenue picture.

Kudos to the police agencies who spent years investigating the organized crime and vice that fed off of Honey’s and other clubs, including the Snohomish County Sheriff’s office, and Everett and Seattle police departments. Applause also goes to federal prosecutors who on Wednesday announced a plea deal that will result in the demise of Honey’s — along with the closure of two other strip clubs, one in Shoreline and the other in Pierce County near Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Seattle Strip Clubs: Good News, Bad News

Posted on April 29th, 2010 in Seattle strip clubs by stripclubbouncer

Four Seattle strip clubs are shutting down as a result of a guilty plea in their owner’s racketeering trial. This is great news for delighted neighbors, but won’t someone please think of the sleazy dudes who patronize clubs such as these? With strip clubs and seedy motels closing throughout the city, where will they go to stay out of the sunlight now?
The Alaskan Way Viaduct can now be closed to traffic almost instantly in the event of an earthquake, just by pushing a button in a Shoreline DOT station. This also makes us really glad we don’t work at the DOT, as the temptation to just push that button on a whim would almost certainly be too great for us.
You won’t see Seattle mayor Mike McGinn in Phoenix anytime soon, as he’s announced his personal support for a boycott of The Grand Canyon State following the passage there of an immigration law (opposed by immigrant’s rights groups and Arizona police chiefs) that will see people fed to the terrible sand dragons of the Grand Canyon if there is reason to suspect them of being brown.

Honeys strip club to close
Everett club to be razed, part of plea deal in racketeering case
EVERETT Honeys, Snohomish Countys lone strip club, will be shuttered and bulldozed.

The three men, all associates of Seattle strip club operator Frank Colacurcio Sr., entered guilty pleas to racketeering and prostitution-related charges.

The men will avoid jail time in exchange for forfeiting the strip club and getting out of the adult entertainment business.

Three other Puget Sound-area strip clubs, Ricks in Seattle, Sugars in Shoreline and Foxs in Tacoma, all will be seized by the federal government. The properties combined value is about $4.5 million, officials said.

Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon said the strip clubs closure should help revitalize business in the area.

The investigation into the strip clubs and illegal activity has been going for years, officials said Wednesday.

Seattle Strip Clubs: Rick’s Last Dance?

Posted on April 29th, 2010 in Seattle strip clubs by stripclubbouncer

You’ve got one week to stop into Lake City’s most well known establishment. May 5 Rick’s (along with four other strip clubs) will close it’s doors to the Seattle public. Frank Sr. and Jr., along with three partners, face federal charges for racketeering, facilitation of prostitution, money laundering and mail fraud. Yesterday three of the five pleaded guilty to these charges.

Some worry Rick’s closure may be short lived. The building is built to be a strip club. Who’s to say its next owner won’t want to use it for the same purpose. Rick’s is the only parking lot in Lake City that is packed at all hours of the day and night. When Rick’s door close, we’ll have to find a new reason for Seattlites to visit Lake City.

A Bellevue detective said the group bought the young woman $500 worth of clothing and lingerie at Bellevue Square, and then took her to the Red Lion hotel, where the men told her she would have to work as a prostitute to pay them back.

Police say the group took nude photos of the woman and posted them on prostitution web sites, and Delgardno raped her in a hotel bathroom.

Text messages from the 16-year-old girl show that she was working as a prostitute and making $500 to $600 a day. Investigators also found advertisements for her on a prostitution web site.

Prosecutors have charged both of the alleged teen accomplices with promoting prostitution in the first degree.

Seattle Adult Entertainment: Illegal immigrants plan to leave over Ariz. law

Posted on April 29th, 2010 in Seattle adult entertainment by seattlesleuth

… We want to drive day labor away,” says Republican Rep. John Kavanagh, one of the law’s sponsors.
An estimated 100,000 illegal immigrants have left Arizona in the past two years as it cracked down on illegal immigration and its economy was especially hard hit by the Great Recession. A Department of Homeland Security report on illegal immigrants estimates Arizona’s illegal immigrant population peaked in 2008 at 560,000, and a year later dipped to 460,000.
The law’s supporters hope the departure of illegal immigrants will help dismantle part of the underground economy here and create jobs for thousands of legal residents in a state with a 9.6 percent unemployment rate.
Kavanagh says day labor is generally off the books, and that deprives the state of much-needed tax dollars. “We’ll never eliminate it, just like laws against street prostitution,” he says. “But we can greatly reduce the prevalence.”

Seattle Strip Clubs: Strip Clubs Closing

Posted on April 29th, 2010 in Seattle strip clubs by stripclubbouncer

Strip Clubs Closing

The owners of a string of strip clubs in the Puget Sound area have pleaded guilty to racketeering and prostitution charges. As a result of the plea deal, the clubs will be shut down. The properties, worth $4.5 four million dollars, will be turned over to the federal government.

All the strip clubs have been under the scrutiny of law enforcement. The FBI and Seattle police conducted a nearly two year investigation, working undercover as patrons, dancers and managers.

“The strip clubs that they operated flaunted the law, promoted prostitution and have been a blight on our community for years,” she said.

The men most associated with the strip clubs, Frank Colacurcio Sr. and Frank Colacurcio Jr., are not part of the plea agreement. They are actually minority partners in the business. The U-S Attorney says the Colacurcio’s are still being prosecuted, but won’t say if the men who pleaded guilty will testify against them.
