Seattle Adult Entertainment: STATE v. ELMORE

Posted on March 10th, 2010 in Seattle adult entertainment by seattlesleuth

The relevant facts have been previously litigated:
In December 1996, Roberta Elmore was hired by an escort service. Elmore went on her first call to the home of Dennis Robertson, a quadriplegic man who shared his home with two other disabled gentlemen. But after a misunderstanding as to what was expected of her, Elmore left Robertson’s home and the escort service forced Elmore to return Robertson’s payment and fired her. Elmore expressed anger to various friends about the incident and reportedly enlisted Gordon Crockett and Thorsten Jerde to rob the Robertson residence, giving them details about the location of the safe she had seen in the bedroom and showing them where Robertson lived. In addition, Elmore reportedly gave Crockett and Jerde bullets for the gun that they planned to use during the robbery.

Seattle Adult Entertainment: An after-hours scene on Edgewood and Auburn avenues finally arrives

Posted on March 8th, 2010 in Seattle adult entertainment by seattlesleuth

After integration, African-Americans began to take their business outside the district, and the construction of the Downtown Connector sliced through its heart. The neighborhood began a downward spiral, exacerbated by white flight. Devon Lee, the 31-year-old great-grandson of Pal’s founder – and now the bar’s current owner – says the toll caused by years of crime, vagrancy and vacancy hasn’t been easy to wipe away.
“You wouldn’t have seen the progress on Edgewood if [the city] hadn’t done something with the less-than-desirable elements,” he says.
Just as Cabbagetown and the Old Fourth Ward have attracted new residents and development, the Edgewood-Auburn corridor is also seeing changes. The demolition of Grady Homes and increased police patrols have served to clear out some – but not all – of the panhandlers and street criminals who frequented the area. Likewise, the closing of the nearby Hilliard Street Residence Hotel – dubbed “Pink City” by locals for its reputation as a prostitution pit stop – has helped reduce the stigma of lawlessness the area gained over the years.

Seattle Strip Clubs: Skinvestigation claim: Detective gets 130 lap dances, makes no arrests

As the march toward trial continues, several of the men indicted following a sting targeting Seattle strip club mogul Frank Colacurcio Sr. now say federal authorities have no business policing vice in the city.

In the indictment, federal authorities accused the Colacurcios and their associates of racketeering, using interstate commerce to facilitate prostitution, money laundering and mail fraud. At issue are allegations that the strip clubs — Rick’s in Lake City, Sugar’s in Shoreline, Honey’s in Everett and Fox’s in Parkland — were used as fronts for prostitution that allegedly garnered the men $25 million in the preceding four years.

Key to the prosecutors’ case, according to court documents, is the payment scheme in which strippers paid $75 to $130 in daily “rent” to the Colacurcio businesses. Such an arrangement is common in Washington strip clubs, which are not allowed to sell liquor to generate profit.
